The 3 time World Poker Champ was born in New York in ‘53 and started playing poker prior to becomming a teenager.
The young bettor started out betting gin and at the age of ten had won his very first gin tournament, while on holiday with his mother and father. By the age of 14 the little poker maestro had become a professional and stopped going to school.
In 1954 Stu entered the history books by winning ten thousand dollars in a gin tournament without dropping a single hand, a record which still stands in New York these days.
The quick speaking wiz kid has been likened, in poker terms, to sporting superstars like Joe Namath and Tiger Woods. Stu Ungar had a genuine ability for playing poker but despite his successes in Hold em poker, he preferred wagering gin.
