No-Limit Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
