Hold’em is simply about gamblers and seating. All knowledgeable Hold’em players agree that position in no cap Texas Holdem is fundamentally important. Playing your hole cards in last spot will be a whole lot more profitable than in early poker position. This is because a lot more data is gathered prior to acting.
i.e., I was playing a $1-$2 no limit cash game at a local casino. I came in with 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier marker, so I could partake in a little fun. Flop came down A-A-4. A gambler in early position made a $15 bet. Two players fold and it was my turn. I really should have dropped out, but something seemed a little off. I read this guy as a weak-tight individual, and usually if he held the strongest hand he would just check, so I called.
The turn came down with a 7, making it A-A-4-7. My challenger made another bet of $20. I deliberated a bit, but made a decision to re-raise an additional $30thirty dollars on top of his $20. He folds and I take the money.
Gambling at late position gives you an insight into where you are positioned by seeing how gamblers behave and wager. On the flip side, gamblers at starting spot could use their poker position to check-raise the last seated competitors and corner them later at the end. In Hold’em, each ends, late and starting must be wagered carefully.
