Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup whatever he could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from others kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
