Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an undying love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
