No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
