NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

[ English ]

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn anything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative feedback from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Even though Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
