NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he could about the game. He routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
